The sustained growth of Asia's economies, and their increasing integration, is creating an economic engine rivaling those of North America and Europe. Canada, and especially the West Coast, is well positioned to benefit from the new patterns of trade this change is bringing. However, it must develop the infrastructure and the human resources needed to exploit its advantages. This website explains why Canada needs a broad national commitment to an Asia Pacific Gateway Strategy that seeks to maximize Canada's strategic advantages as the most competitive entry and exit point in North America for the production chains that now span the Pacific and soon, the Atlantic.
